Melissa Wang

Venture Leader

Melissa has dedicated her career to helping mission-driven organizations achieve greater impact and scale. Over the past two decades, as a grantmaker and consultant, she has advised and coached executive leaders and teams across various topics, including strategy development, program implementation, impact measurement, financial sustainability, talent management, and board development and management. Her work has encompassed a range of issue areas, such as early childhood, K-12 education, housing, and employment, across regional (Bay Area), national, and global efforts.

Before joining VLC, Melissa held Senior Director positions at Valhalla Foundation and Tipping Point Community, where she worked deeply with a portfolio of grantee organizations to accelerate their results. Within Valhalla and Tipping Point, she played a leadership role during critical phases of change and growth. Her responsibilities included developing programmatic strategies, hiring and managing teams, standardizing processes and implementing accountability measures, tracking impact and progress toward goals, as well as engaging with the board. Melissa has also worked at Amplifier Strategies (providing consulting services to social change organizations), Nonprofit Finance Fund, and Taproot Foundation.

Melissa holds a BA in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from the Yale School of Management.
